Music recital

COIMBATORE, JUNE 18. The Kovai Thamizhisai Sangham will organise music recital by A.V.R. Randhini and A.V.R. Roshini on June 20. The programme will be held at Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan Kalaiarangam.

Manoranjitham, the cultural wing of Sri Ayyappan Puja Sangham, will organise vocal recital by Prasanna Venkataraman on June 19.

Course

The Varahas Kshatriya Gurucool will organise a 10-day yoga and meditation course from June 19. A release said that course would include Surya Namaskar, Pranayama and meditation. For details, contact telephone number: (0422) 2453151.

Recovered

The Fire and Rescue Services commandos led by Station Fire Officer, B. Pradip Kumar, today recovered the body of a 15-year old boy, who fell into a nearby water source at Kolathupalayam near Madukkarai. It is learnt that the boy was taking bath along with his friends, when the incident took place. Efforts are on to identify the boy.

Sentenced

The Principal District Sessions Judge, A. Rathnavelu, today convicted and sentenced Rangasamy to undergo life term besides a fine of Rs. 5,000 in a case relating to the murder of his friend and relative Kalan on August 28, 2002. If he fails to pay the fine, he should undergo one more year of imprisonment. According to prosecution, when the duo was returning from Kerala after visiting a shandy, Rangasamy is said to have killed Kalan with a sickle over the issue of borrowing Rs. 100.
