Laloo seeks Modi's arrest
PATNA,
JUNE 19
. Renewing his demand for arrest of the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief and Railway Minister, Laloo Prasad Yadav, today asked the Union Home Ministry to probe the recent encounter in Ahmedabad in which four alleged terrorists were killed.
``I have requested the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, to ask the Home Ministry to order a probe into the encounter which took place in Ahmedabad on June 15,'' Mr. Yadav told reporters on his arrival from New Delhi.
Reports suggested that an innocent (Ishrat) also fell to the bullets of police, he said adding that the allegation of the terrorist links of the victims be thoroughly probed.
He disagreed with the demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the encounter saying ``I don't favour it personally."
He demanded that cases be instituted against Mr. Modi and he should be arrested. ``I have demanded his arrest earlier also." PTI
