BANGALORE, JUNE 19 . The World amateur body-building championship will be held in Bangalore from November 26 to 28. It was confirmed by S. Chandramouli, Secretary of the Body-building Federation of India on Saturday. Mr. Chandramouli, who was recently in Europe, said that during the European championship, he had extended invitation to several European federations and received a very positive response from them. "We expect about 250 contestants from all over the world, to take part in the championship, which will be first of its kind in the country," he said. Mr. Chandramouli said the organisers have made arrangements to provide board and lodge for the participants at a Spa near here and the event will be held at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium. He also said that a professional competition, carrying prize money of $15,000 would be conducted. "A select band of 20 to 22 competitors would be invited for the competition in the professional section," he said. He also said that the reigning amateur world champion is likely to be invited for the meet and he will tour centres in Karnataka, including Mysore and Mangalore, for exhibition contests. The World championship will be sponsored by Manjunath Hegde Sports Foundation.
