MADURAI, JUNE 19. The Syndicate Committee of the Madurai Kamaraj University has granted affiliation for 40 new courses in different colleges for 2004-05, the Vice-Chancellor, P.K. Ponnuswamy, said today. The Syndicate Committee also granted fresh affiliation to Annai Fatima College of Arts and Science near Tirumangalam for running B.Sc. Maths, B. Com. with Computer Application, B.Sc. Hotel Management and Catering Science, B.A. Tourism and Hotel Management, he told presspersons here today. The Committee granted the Approved Institution Status to NAM Foundation, Madurai, Akilika Herbal Institute, Palani, and R.K. Educational Trust's International Institute of Hotel Management and Medicinal Plants, to offer two P.G. diplomas, one diploma and a certificate course. As per the University Grants Commission's suggestion, the university was all set to introduce 18 job-oriented courses from the second semester of this academic year. The Committee also granted approval to Kodaikanal Christian College for offering M.Sc. Business Technology. The Syndicate also approved Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre's P.G. Diploma in Fund Raising Management and P.G. Diploma in Micro Credit Management. The university would conduct a proprietary audit of the functioning of its Education Media Research Centre by an expert from outside, he said.
