Protest against disruption in power supply

KOCHI, JUNE 19. The Kerala State Consumer Welfare Organisation today protested against the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) for putting the public into trouble by switching off supply during the day in the name of cutting tree branches. The president of the organisation, Mathew Paul, said here today that the KSEB chairman had promised to look into the matter immediately.

Handicrafts exhibition

The All Kerala Association of the Deaf will organise a workshop and an exhibition of handicrafts made by the hearing impaired at the EMS Memorial Town Hall here on July 3 and 4. A programme, Swayamvaram-2004, will also be organised to help them choose their life-partners. More details can be had on phone number 2683467.

Role of fisheries harbours

A two-day national workshop on `Fishery harbours: current status and future management concerns' will be held at the Bharat Hotel here on June 24 and 25. It will discuss the vital role fishing harbours and landing centres play in planned fisheries development.

Seminar

A seminar on the current prospects of infertility treatment, organised by the World Family Foundation, was held here today. Inaugurating the seminar, the Minister for Excise and Fisheries, K. V. Thomas, said that legislation for preventing exploitation in the name of infertility treatment should be introduced. He called for concerted efforts to popularise the scientific advancements in this sector for the benefit of the general public.
