Protest against donation to Ishrat's family
THANE,
JUNE 20.
The Shiv Sena today took out a protest march against the Nationalist Congress Party leader, Vasant Davkhare, who had donated Rs. 1 lakh to the family of Ishrat Jahan Shamim Raza, who was killed by the Gujarat police in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
The Sena delegation, comprising the former MP, Satish Pradhan, Anant Tare, MLA, and the Mayor, Sharda Raut, met the Additional Police Commissioner, Suresh Kakkad, and demanded that Mr. Davkhare, former Chairman of the Legislative Council, "be booked under POTA for his act of supporting terrorists."
Hundreds of Shiv Sainiks with saffron flags and placards condemning Mr. Davkhare participated in the march. BJP workers staged a dharna outside the Thane station to condemn Mr. Davkhare's act of "assisting anti-national forces."
