St. Joseph's, Avila Convent take honours

CHENNAI, JUNE 20. St. Joseph's HSS (Cuddalore) and Avila Convent MHSS (Coimbatore) emerged triumphant in the boys' and girls' team events respectively of the Yonex-SDAT Tamil Nadu inter-school badminton tournament at the Nehru Indoor Stadium here on Sunday.

The results:

Boys: Final: St. Joseph's HSS (Cuddalore) bt St. Andrew's HSS (Arakkonam) 2-0 (R. Vijay Anand bt Md. Zameer 15-1, 15-1; R. Vijay Anand & C. Vignesh Kanna bt Md. Ameer & A. Kumaran 15-5, 15-7).

Semifinals: St. Joseph's bt Le Chatlier 2-0 (Vijay Anand bt Bharat Arun 15-8, 15-0; Vijay Anand & Vignesh Kanna bt Bharat Arun & Nishanth 15-12, 15-4); St. Andrew's bt Lady Andal 2-1 (A. Kumaran lost to Gaurav 2-15, 4-15; A. Kumaran & A. Md. Ameer bt Gaurav & Musawwir 15-1, 15-3; A. Md. Ameer bt Girish 15-0, 15-1).

Quarterfinals: St. Joseph's bt Holy Cross 2-0 (R. Vijay Anand bt K. Rohit Murthy 15-4, 15-5; R.Vijay Anand & P. Vignesh Kanna bt K. Rohit Murthy & C. Semifinals: Avila Convent bt Cluny 2-1 (S. Archana lost to Divya Devi Mahesh 10-13, 4-11; S. Archana & R. Hamshika bt Divya Devi Mahesh & Vajula Valli 15-12, 15-5; R.
