VISAKHAPATNAM, JUNE 20. More facilities will be created at Tirumala for pilgrims within a year, according to the Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), T. Subbarami Reddy. Speaking at a felicitation function organised by the Congress Floor Leader in the Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (VMC), P.L.N. Patnaik, at Thatichetlapalem, on his maiden visit to the city after taking charge of the new post, he said about 50,000 pilgrims visit Tirumala on an average every day but there was accommodation available only for about 35,000. "We have to find accommodation for at least 15,000. What the devotees want is early darshan, good accommodation and clean environs. We will work out ways to cut short the waiting time for darshan,'' he said. Dr. Reddy claimed that his first achievement was to appease the religious leaders who were at loggerheads over the issue of performing traditional rituals at Tirumala temple. The TTD Chairman hoped that the issues of thousand pillar mandapam and kalyanamandapam at Tirumala would also be resolved amicably. The Mayor, Rajana Ramani, Visakhapatnam-II MLA, S. Rangaraju, Pendurthi MLA, Tippala Gurumurthy Reddy, former MP, K.A. Swamy, PCC member, Y. Mariadas, Youth Congress leader, Koyya Prasada Reddy, and others spoke at the function which was chaired by the City Congress president, Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao.
