`State police probing Javed's links'

NEW DELHI, JUNE 21. The State police are inquiring into charges regarding Javed, one of the four alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba militants killed in an encounter with the Gujarat police, the Chief Minister, A.K. Antony, said here today.

``The inquiry is in progress,'' Mr. Antony told reporters when referred to the reports that Javed Gulam Mohammed Sheikh alias Pranesh Kumar Pillai, who was shot dead in the encounter originally hailed from Allappuzha.

Asked whether the State police had failed to trail him despite his frequent visits to the State, Mr. Antony said he could not say anything more on the issue ``off hand'' as it was a ``sensitive'' one. - UNI
