BANGALORE, JUNE 21. The Government today decided to postpone the commencement of counselling for admission to professional colleges from June 24 to July 8 and made it clear that the 75:25 seat-sharing formula was non-negotiable. This was based on the decision taken by a Cabinet sub-committee on seat-sharing and fee structure in the professional courses, headed by the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramiah, which met here today. The committee decided to meet again on June 28 to finalise the modalities of the decision to reserve 75 per cent of the seats for the Government, leaving the rest to the managements. Briefing presspersons on the decision taken by the committee, the Large and Medium Industries Minister, P.G.R. Sindhia, said that besides retaining the 75:25 formula, the Government would file a review petition before the Supreme Court against its order fixing the 50:50 formula. The CET Cell has announced that the revised schedule of seat selection will be notified shortly. The announcement will be put up on the CET Cell website, www.kar.nic.in/cet.
