Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, JUNE 21. The Pattali Makkal Katchi MP, M. Ramadoss, has urged the Union Railway Minister, Laloo Prasad Yadav, to evolve separate schemes for railway infrastructure development for Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu. Petitions have been presented to Mr. Yadav and the Minister of State for Railways, Velum, seeking separate fund allocation for Pondicherry in the next railway budget. Despite Pondy's historical importance and tourist potential, "no intensive concentration was exclusively given" by the Centre, he said in a release. He also demanded a high-speed railway service from Mahe in Kerala via Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Salem, Coimbatore and Kozhikode.
