Jammu & Kashmir
SRINAGAR, JUNE 21 . Jammu and Kashmir government today said there was no move to requisition the services of senior central government officers as reported in a section of press. ``There is no such move in the offing. It is a sheer figment of imagination,'' a government spokesman said reacting to a report published in a local daily which claimed that the government was contemplating requisitioning the services of 15 senior officers from the Centre as it was dissatisfied with the state cadre. The state officers and IAS officers of Jammu and Kashmir cadre are efficiently running the administration at all levels in the state. In fact, the government values their contribution and hard work, he added. The spokesman also ridiculed NC statement that dishonest and incompetent officers have been inducted into IAS cadre and said the senior KAS (Kashmir Administrative Service) officers were inducted into IAS by the selection committee of Union Public Service Commission and it has been upheld by Central Administrative Tribunal and High Court. He said the basis of selection is the performance of these officers out of a panel of eligible senior KAS officers and the grading of their performance that came under assessment was in fact of the period prior to 2002 when NC was in power in the state. The statement of NC is ``mischievous and motivated'', the spokesman said reacting to the claim of opposition party patron and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah in this regard.
