official

gheraoed

MANGALOREMANGALOREMANGALOREMANGALOREMUMB, JUNE 21.JUNE 21.JUNE The district committee of the Karnataka State Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) on Monday gheraoed the chief officer of the Ullal Town Panchayat, A.V. Ganesh, in support of their demands. Their main demand was the need to spend Rs. 3.5 lakhs allocated under the 18 per cent funds for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the same financial year.

The protesters accused Mr. Ganesh of not utilising the funds according to norms in the last two years. Noting that memorandums and appeals had not an effect on the official concerned, the Samiti leaders said they had no option but to gherao him.

The district convenor, Girish Kumar U.K., the former district convenor, Nirmal Kumar, and the district organising convenor, Anand Bellare, spoke.
