New airfares come into effect

NEDUMBASSERY, JUNE 21. The hike in imposed by three major airline companies on their domestic services, owing to oil price shoot up in the international market, came into effect today. The increase in rate is not applicable to those who have already booked their tickets.

Indian Airlines, Air Sahara and Jet Airways have increased their rates by almost 10 per cent. The renewed ticket rates of Indian Airlines services from Kochi are given below. (former rates are given in bracket):

Kochi-Mumbai - Rs.7,145 (6,510), Kochi-Bangalore Rs.3,280 (3,000), Kochi-Chennai Rs.4,625 (4,217), Kochi-Delhi Rs.14,265 (12,985), Kochi-Kozhikode Rs.850 (790), Kochi-Coimbatore Rs.750 (700).

Air Sahara's services from Kochi to Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata now costs Rs.6,580 (5,999), Rs. 13,310 (12,115) and Rs.13,900 (13,670) respectively. Air Sahara has separate rates for those who book their tickets in advance. For service to Mumbai, the ticket fare if booked five days before is Rs.5,040; for ten days in advance it is Rs.4,775; for 15 days it is Rs.4,560 and the rate on booking ticket 20 days in advance is Rs.3,115. In the case of Kochi-Delhi service the special rates on advance booking are Rs.9,690,Rs 9,075,Rs. 8,570 and Rs.6,800 respectively.

Jet Airways's renewed ticket rates to various domestic destinations are: Kochi-Mumbai Rs.7,385 (6,750), Kochi-Chennai Rs.4,980 (4,576), Kochi-Bangalore Rs.3,520 (3,237), Kochi-Delhi Rs.14,260 (12,980). Ticket fares for Jet Airways' Kozhikode-Mumbai service and Thiruvananthapuram-Mumbai have been reworked as Rs.6,010 (5,480) and Rs.8,000 (7,289) respectively.

CIAL Director Board meeting

The Director Board meeting of the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) will be held on Thursday at Thiruvananthapuram. The meeting, scheduled for three in the evening will be held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, A.K Antony, who is also the company chairman. The meeting will announce the profit made by CIAL in 2003-04 apart from declaring the dividend for the shareholders. Discussion on credit taken from HUDCO is supposed to come up in the meeting. It is also to decide the date of the Annual General Meeting.
