This Day That Age
The Chinese Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mr. Chou En-lai will arrive in New Delhi on June 25 on a three-day visit in response to an invitation from Prime Minister Nehru. It is learnt that when Mr. V.K. Krishna Menon was in Geneva recently, he was instructed by Mr. Nehru to extend an invitation on his behalf to the Chinese Prime Minister, who accepted it. Mr. Chou En-lai will be the guest of the Government of India, and will stay at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, will hold a reception to the Chinese Prime Minister, while Mr. Nehru will give a state banquet. This will be Mr. Chou En-lai's first visit to India and his first meeting with Mr. Nehru. Sino-Indian relations are based on five principles, namely, mutual respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty, mutual non-aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit and peaceful co-existence. Mr. Nehru has been a strong advocate of greater understanding with China. A special Constellation plane of the Air India International, which is to bring the Chinese Prime Minister to New Delhi, left Santa Cruz airport on June 22 for Geneva.
