This Day That Age
Special arrangements are being made by the Meteorological Department of the Government of India in connection with the total solar eclipse which will be visible in the vicinity of Jodhpur on June 30. This is the first time since January 1898 that a total eclipse of the sun will be visible in India. A partial eclipse of the sun can also be observed in Delhi between 18.30 and 19.23 hours. Phalodi, a small town in the Rajasthan desert, which is the venue of a temporary observatory, is situated 72 ½ degrees longitude and 27 ½ degrees latitude. While the eclipse will also be visible in other parts of North-West India, its totality will be clearly observed at Phalodi. The total eclipse will be more clearly visible in Quetta (Pakistan). The belt of this eclipse comprises the USA, Canada, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Jodhpur.
