NEW DELHI, JUNE 22. Even as the home appliances major Electrolux revealed its plans to invest Rs. 40 crores by 2007 in a research and development centre here, it said it would be sourcing IT services from Patni Computers as well as components from India. Asserting that the company is fully committed to India market and will provide full strategic support to Indian subsidiary, the AB Electrolux President and CEO, Hans Straberg, said at a news conference that their commitments to India were of long term nature and in tune with their global operations. He said he was confident that the company would emerge the most innovative appliances maker in the country as it would demonstrate that it understood its customers' needs very well. Mr. Straberg, who is on his first visit to India as CEO, will inaugurate the company's R&D centre in Shajanpur (Rajasthan). According to him, Electrolux will source components worth 300 million dollars from the domestic market. He also announced that the company's Indian operations would be the SAARC headquarters excluding Sri Lanka.
