Moustache that scared a Pakistani ranger

By Luv Puri

JAMMU, JUNE 22. For Bhupti Das, a constable with the Border Security Force (BSF) posted along the International Border, his moustache, not his gun, does the talking. His thick four feet and five inches long moustache that is neatly tied has become a hot topic even across the border.

A native of West Bengal, Bhupti Das can even lift a bucket of water with his moustache. He started growing his moustache more than a decade back and his ``family is proud of it now.'' ``I take so much care to keep it neat and clean. I apply coconut oil to keep the roots strong.''

During the routine flag meetings on the border Pakistani rangers do not fail to talk to Das about his moustache. At one such meeting, Das recalled, ``I tried to shake hands with a Pakistani ranger. But he didn't reciprocate, as he was scared of my moustache. I didn't grow it to frighten anybody. It just came in my mind and I never cut it.''
