HYDERABAD, JUNE 22. The Telugu Desam Party MLA, D. Nagender, who quit the Assembly and the party, has ruled out a reconsideration of his decision despite an appeal by the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, and people of his constituency. The Asifnagar MLA met Mr. Naidu at his residence on Tuesday to explain the reasons behind his resignation. However, they could not speak in detail as the latter was leaving for the Assembly. Mr. Nagender said the TDP president told him that one should face political ups and downs "bravely" and asked him "rethink," as he had a "bright future." He said the TDP president told him that he had given him the ticket despite pressure to do otherwise. He said he had, in turn, told the former Chief Minister that he was quitting because he would be unable to do justice to the TDP. "I told him I can't perform as per the party's expectations," he said. Asserting that there would be no change in his stand, Mr. Nagender said he would meet Mr. Naidu tomorrow and explain his resignation. He would also meet the Speaker, K. R. Suresh Reddy, he said. He said people in his constituency were asking him not to quit. However, he said they were aware of his "compulsions." "Some of them said they stand by my decision, while others wanted me to remain their MLA."
