NIZAMABAD, JUNE 22. A large number of Telugu Desam Party leaders, including ZPTC, MPTC members and sarpanches, switched their loyalties and joined the Telangana Rashtra Samiti in the presence of the Dichpalli MLA, Gaddam Ganga Reddy, on Tuesday. However, there were no senior leaders from the TDP among those who crossed over to the pro-Telangana party at a function organised at a private function hall this afternoon. The first exodus of TDP cadres from the grassroot level came as a boost to the TRS. Interestingly, most of the TDP cadres who joined the TRS today are known to be Ganga Reddy loyalists. A prize `catch' was the TDP floor leader in the Zilla Parishad and Navipet ZPTC member, Saibaba Goud. He was one of the six ZPTC members who won the local body polls amid a TRS wave three years ago. The TDP office secretary, Sudarshan Rao, who along with former MPP chief, Ega Ganga Reddy, had raised a banner of revolt, officially joined the TRS in the presence of the Dichpalli MLA and TRS district President, A.S.Poshetty. The TDP suffered a setback when the district president of the party's minority cell, S.A.Aleem, also joined the TRS. Former Nizamabad Cooperative Sugar Factory chairman, Ramarthy Gangadhar, former District Revenue Officer, Komaraiah, and several others announced their decision to join the TRS. The TRS received a boost when the Bheemgal sarpanch, Bhupati Rao, joined the party along with hundreds of his followers. Accompanied by several sarpanches, former sarpanches, MPTC members, Mr. Bhupati Rao garlanded Mr. Ganga Reddy and announced his decision to sever links with the TDP.
