HYDERABAD, JUNE 22. The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Tuesday assured the Assembly that a thorough inquiry would be conducted into the "illegal detention" of a Muslim youth by the police in Hyderabad. Intervening during zero hour on the issue raised by Akbaruddin Owaisi, floor leader of the MIM group, Dr. Reddy said he was taking a "personal interest" in it. He would get back to the House with details shortly, he said. Mr. Owaisi alleged that the youth, Anees Mohiuddin, a mechanical engineer who completed MS from London, was picked up by CID officers from the airport recently. He was charged with involvement in the bomb blast at Saibaba Temple at Dilsukhnagar, some years ago. He was interrogated for five days and subjected to lie detector test, but the police could not prove anything. Yet he continued to be in police custody.
