Farmers to get 30 p more for litre of milk

By Our Staff Correspondent

BIDAR, JUNE 22. Milk unions under the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) have been asked to pay 30 paise more a litre for milk purchased from farmers, starting Monday, the Minister for Animal Husbandry and Wakf, Mirajuddin Patel, has said. There will, however, be no increase in the price of milk sold by the KMF.

Speaking at a public meeting here today, Mr. Patel said the Gulbarga-Bidar Milk Union had agreed to increase the payment to milk producers from Tuesday.

The Minister also announced that animals would be treated for free in veterinary hospitals in the State soon.

There were apprehensions in the minds of people about the setting up of the Veterinary University in Bidar. "But I will go ahead and do it, come what may," he said amid applause.
