LUCKNOW, JUNE 22. The Uttar Pradesh Government today extended the re-introduced the 1995 fee structure to include six non-aided universities in the State, where students will now pay reduced tuition fee. The decision was taken at the State Cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, Mulayam Singh Yadav. Unaided universities in Agra, Faizabad, Kanpur, Bareilly, Jhansi and Jaunpur will charge the tution fee from students at par with 1995 levels. However, the Government is expected to give financial aid to these universities for the losses incurred due to reduction in the fee. The State Government had re-introduced the 1995 fee structure in all Government school, colleges and universities, after it came to power in August last year. In another decision, the Government has rationalised trade tax on molasses at 2.5 per cent and hiked the administrative charges from Rs 8 to Rs 11 per quintal. Earlier, the taxes on molasses were between 2 to 8 per cent in different categories. The Government has also waived entry tax on jobs in the printing press and reduced the C S T on paper manufacturing units from 4 to 2 per cent.
