Kozhikode to host State senior badminton

KOCHI, JUNE 22. Kozhikode will host both the Kerala State senior and sub-junior badminton championships this year.

The senior championship will be held from August 14 to 17 and the sub-junior event from August 9 to 12. Both the events will be held at the V.K.K. Menon indoor stadium.

Kochi will host the State junior meet at the Regional Sports Centre here from July 29 to 31. The State badminton calendar was finalised at the AGM of the Kerala Badminton (Shuttle) Association held in Kozhikode recently.

The South Zone championship would be held in Bangalore (August 30-31), the sub-junior Nationals in Chandigarh (October 10-16), the junior Nationals in Panjim (Goa, October 31-November 8) and the senior Nationals in Jamshedpur (January 27-February 4), says a release from the KBSA secretary S.Muralidharan.

The State calendar: All-Kerala Open at Central Club (Changanassery, July 9-12); RSC Play for Gold Open (Regional Sports Centre, Kochi, July 15-18); Savithri Saboo junior and sub-junior State ranking tourney (VKK Menon indoor stadium, Kozhikode, July 24-27); State juniors, masters and veterans championships (RSC, Kochi, July 29-31); SBT Open State-ranking tourney (Thiruvananthapuram, August 1-3); State sub-junior meet (VKK Stadium, Kozhikode, August 9-12); State senior championship (VKK Menon Stadium, Kozhikode, August 14-17). — Our Sports Reporter
