IA triumphs

NEW DELHI, JUNE 22. Indian Airlines won the 12th all-India Maharaja Padam Singh cricket tournament at Rohru, near Shimla. Indian Airliens won the first two matches convincingly and in the final defeated Oil and Natural Gas Corporation by four wickets in a match reduced to 20 overs a side due to overnight rain.

Rizwan Shamshad of ONGC was declared the `man of the series while Rajat Bhatia of Indian Airlines was the `man of the match' in the final.

Chetan Sharma and Deepak Joon, both from Indian Airlines, won the `best batsman' and `best fielder' prize respectively and Ajay Sharma of Northern Railway claimed the `best bowler' honour.

The scores: IA 320 (Chetan Sharma 128, Rajeev Rathore 87 not out, Ashok Singh 39 not out) bt Rohru Cricket Association 112 ( Iresh Saxena four for 19, Sandeep Sanwal four for 21).

IA 271 (Chetan Sharma 118, Rajat Bhatia 89, Manvinder Bisla 38, Ajay Sharma three for 37) beat Northern Railway 202 (Sunil Rawat 48, Abbas Raza 40, Ajay Sharma 33, Iresh Saxena three for 33).

ONGC 151 for five in 20 overs (Sandeep Sharma 65, Radhey Shyam 38) lost to IA 153 for six in 19.1 overs (Rajat Bhatia 48, Ravneet Ricky 42).
