CHANDIGARH, JUNE 22. Permanent Lok Adalats have been set up in Haryana to redress the grievances of the people on matters pertaining to public utility services. Stating this here today, a spokesman for the Haryana State Legal Services Authority said the public utility services included transport services for the carriage of passengers or goods by air, road or water, postal, telegraph or telephone service, supply of electricity or water to the public by any establishment, system of public conservancy or sanitation, service in hospital and dispensary and insurance service. He said the people who had any grievance regarding any of these public utility services could now get them redressed quickly by the permanent Lok Adalat in their respective district. ``No appeal against the award of the Lok Adalat could be filed. The permanent Lok Adalat might transmit any such award to a civil court having local jurisdiction to execute it. Such matters up to the value of Rs 10 lakh could be settled through permanent Lok Adalats," he added. The Authority was also running counselling and conciliation centres in all the districts of the State. It was also organising the legal literacy camps in urban and rural areas, the spokesman added.
