CHENNAI, JUNE 21. A joint inspection committee of the Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi, and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi, is likely to visit Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) for assessing the infrastructure in the five proposed study centres. Based on the report of the committee, a final decision will be announced on the introduction of B.Ed. programme this year. According to M.S. Palanichamy, Vice-Chancellor, this year the university had introduced six job-oriented programmes for rural poor and unemployed youth in urban areas. With student admission for 2004-05 for all programmes already commenced, interested candidates may get the prospectus and application forms from any of the study/information/counselling centres of the university or from the headquarters on the DOTE Campus, Guindy, Chennai-25 on payment of Rs. 100.
