By Our Staff Reporter

KURNOOL, JUNE 22. The inflow into the Tungabhadra reservoir at Hospet has been encouraging this year. As on Tuesday, the water level in the reservoir was 1599.13 ftaccounting for a storage of 20.041 tmcft, the highest in this decade, according to officials.

If the tempo continued for the next one month, the reservoir is expected to overflow after three years. The overflow from the reservoir would assure supply to the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme and Kurnool-Cuddapah Canal downstream and the Low Level Canal and High Level Canal, which supply water to Kurnool and Anantapur.

The inflow into the reservoir at present was 24,179 cusecs. The reopening of LLC is likely to be delayed this year with the repairs to the canal expected to be extended till July 10. The farmers could expect water only after July 20.

The flow into the Srisailam reservoir was around 8,250 cusecs while the level stood at 780.83 ft. The level in the Gajuladinne project stood at 371.23 meters while the storage accounted for 420.5 mcft.

Meanwhile, the half-finished K-C canal modernisation works have been worrying the authorities and farmers. The canal would not be able to draw more than 2500 cusecs because of delay in strengthening the bunds in Kurnool city. Also, the dispute over closure of construction vent at Sunkesula anicut remains unsettled.
