Drop in humidity

Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 37.7 degree Celsius and a minimum of 27.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Humidity which recorded 55 per cent in the morning dropped to 37 per cent in the evening.

Commodity prices

The following were the prices (in rupees per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Tuesday: groundnut oil-51, palmolein oil-41.75, sunflower oil-50, tamarind (flower variety)-29 to 35, tamarind (karipuli variety)-38 to 45, chilli (AC) - 24 to 28, chilli (non-AC) - 14 to 22, rice (2716)-13, rice (super fine)-14 to 15, rice (samba masoori)-15 to 16, black gram (pottu minapappu)-19 to 25 and red gram (kandipappu)-26.50 to 30.

Power shutdown in many areas

There will be power shutdown from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

In Ring Road section, affected areas are: Sunnapubattilu Centre, LIC Colony, Ashoknagar, Christurajpuram.

In K.G. Market section, affected areas are: Brahmin street, Arjun street, Water Tank street, Upparayagu street, Seshaiah street, Nallamandu street, Pottiswamy street, Tavvavari street, part of Sivalayam street, Nalugu Kulayalu Centre and Ramalayam Centre.

13 power theft cases booked

Andhra Pradesh Transco officials booked thirteen cases against customers who were resorting to energy theft and slapped fines to the tune of Rs.1.69 lakhs on them.

The AP Transco Divisional Electrical Engineer, G. Pattabhi Rama Rao, said the public should report any cases of power theft to Transco over tele phone numbers 2574506 or 1912.
