Lorry set ablaze

BANGALORE, JUNE 22. Angry villagers set on fire a lorry which is said to have run over a motorist, killing him on the spot at Visvesvaraya Layout of Giddadhakonenahalli in Magadi Road Police Station limits on Tuesday night.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-West), M.T. Naik, said the lorry was being reversed when it hit a motorcycle, killing Govindaraju (28) of the village. The driver fled after the incident. Following Govindaraj's death, the angry villagers set the lorry on fire, Mr.Naik said.

There was tension in the area for some time and senior police officers, including Mr. Naik, rushed there and pacified the villagers. The Magadi Road Police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the driver.
