Power goes off in many localities

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, JUNE 22. The people of Banaswadi, Kammanahalli and surrounding areas were put to hardship following a power shutdown for more than five hours on Tuesday.

The residents of the areas, particularly those staying in Jalavayu Vihar and Sena Vihar housing complexes, complained that there had been no power supply from 5 p.m.

When contacted by The Hindu , Sathyanarayana, Superintending Engineer (South), Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM), said there was a major fault in the cables supplying power to these areas from the feeders. "We are in the process of identifying the problem and setting it right," he added.

Mr. Sathyanarayana said supply had already been restored in some areas by getting power from other feeder units.

He said BESCOM would ensure that power supply was restored in other areas too at the earliest.
