Traffic curbs for work on railway track

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, JUNE 22. The City Police Commissioner, S. Mariswamy, has imposed traffic restrictions from Wednesday to enable the doubling of the railway track between Bangalore and Mysore and the construction of a flyover.

The restrictions may deny bus services for several commuters to Binny Mills and surrounding areas.

A police press release on Monday said the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses from Kamakshipalya side would have to take a left near Prasanna Cinema, take Dr. Rajkumar Road and turn right at Basava Mantapa Junction, cross Rajajinagar Entrance, turn right at Vatal Nagaraj Road and Platform Road junction, pass under the railway overpass, and reach the destination via Khoday Circle, Anand Rao Circle, Maharani College, K.R. Circle, Nrupathunga Road, Hudson Circle and Town Hall.

Thus, they will not take the Binny Mill route.

Similarly, private buses too are not allowed towards Binny Mill. Following is the new route for them: Take a right turn at Veeresh Cinema, reach P&T junction, take right to Magadi-Chord Road, reach Kimco Junction, take a left turn, reach Sirsi Circle and reach their destination via Briand Square, Rayan Circle, Chamarajpet 1st Main Road and Bangalore Medical College.

The deluxe, semi-deluxe and Rajahamsa services of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) from Kempe Gowda Bus Station should now go to Mysore Road via Khoday Circle, Platform Road, Vatal Nagaraj Road, Karnataka Bhavan Junction, Hunase Mara Junction, Magadi Road, Prasanna Junction, M.C. Circle, Magadi-Chord Road, Vijayanagar, Attiguppe, Dipanjalinagar and Kimco Junction.

Other KSRTC buses could reach it via Khoday Circle, Anandarao Circle, Maharani College, Nrupatunga Road, Town Hall, Mysore Road Flyover, Briand Square, Rayan Circle, Chamarajpet 1st Main and Sirsi Circle. These vehicles will have to leave from the flyover at Briand Square using the down ramp.
