Police foil bid to cheat bank

By Our Staff Reporter

CUDDAPAH, JUNE 23. The Cuddapah One Town police on Wednesday arrested an account holder, Sudarshan Reddy, who allegedly tried to cheat the District Cooperative Central Bank of Rs. 3.80 lakhs.

According to the Cuddapah SP, V.C. Sajjanar, a suspended DCCB employee, Sudhakar Reddy, aided Sudarshan Reddy by fraudulently entering a deposit for the amount in the account of the former without the transaction actually taking place.

The suspended DCCB employee made the entry without the knowledge of the bank staff, the SP told newsmen here.

The account holder presented a cheque for the amount on June 18 but the bank manager suspected foul play and complained to the police, he said. The police were on the look out for the suspended DCCB employee, who is at large, he said.

Vehicle racket

The SP asserted that the police would arrest the Telugu Desam Party MLA of Kamalapuram, G. Veerasiva Reddy, who was an accused in a vehicle racket. Two police teams were stationed in Hyderabad to nab the MLA, he said.

He added that the police had sufficient documentary evidence to prove his complicity in the vehicle racket, wherein several private banks and finance companies were cheated.
