SURYAPET (NALGONDA DT.), JUNE 23. A gang of dacoits broke into the residence of a cinema hall owner and made off with the booty after grievously injuring two persons in the early hours of Wednesday. According to the local Sub-Inspector, E. Srinivas Reddy, a six-member gang gained entry into the house of Appam Srinivas (40) and injured the watchman, Narsaiah (55), with iron roads following which fell unconscious. They broke open the bedroom door and ransacked the house after threatening Mr. Srinivas and his wife, Varoodhini (35). The burglars took away Rs.1.10 lakhs in cash, 22 tolas of gold ornaments, a cell phone and two cameras. The dacoits spoke Lambada and Marathi languages, the SI quoted the complainant as saying. The Superintendent of Police, N. Balasubramanyam, visited the spot.
