TIRUCHI, JUNE 23. Joyous scenes were witnessed among sacked temporary employees at the Tiruchi Collectorate here today following the Government's decision to withdraw its order terminating their services. Several of them had gathered at the Collectorate campus for the second consecutive day today. But despair gave way to relief and delight today as they eagerly awaited the orders on their reinstatement. The temporary staff exchanged sweets as copies of the Government Order were circulated to the respective department heads announcing the cancellation of their termination. Many extended their gratitude to the Government for heeding their pleas. All 466 government staff in the district would get back their jobs, following the decision. Posters thanking the Government had come up in many parts of Perambalur. Many of them were waiting at the Employment Exchange to re-register their names. But as news of the withdrawal of the termination order came they rushed to the Collectorate to celebrate. They faxed a letter to the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, expressing their gratitude.
