VIJAYAWADA, JUNE 23. Gearing up for the launch of works on the Singapore township on the city outskirts, the CESMA International (India) Limited, a subsidiary of the Government of Singapore, is preparing to make a final presentation on the multi-crore project by the end of this month. The prestigious project taken up by the Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali, Mangalagiri - Urban Development Authority envisages construction of 2,000 units of apartment houses over 50 acres at an estimated cost of Rs. 150 crores duly following all the vaastu norms. As part of the project, it is proposed to allot houses on preferential deposit basis - first preference to those paying 90 per cent of the amount in advance followed by those paying 70 per cent while the allotment will be on the basis of draw of lots for those making 30 per cent of the payment in advance. Informing this at a press conference here on Tuesday, the chairman of the VGTM-UDA, Malladi Vishnu, said that the foundation stone for the project would be laid by the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, sometime next month. Referring to the other development works, he said that it was proposed to take up development of link roads in Vijayawada and Guntur - Autonagar to Ramavarappadu connecting the NH 9 with NH 5, estimated to cost Rs. 30 crores and Autonagar to Nallapadu road on the Guntur-Sattenapally road bypassing Guntur at an estimated cost of Rs. 20 crores. The works on conducting feasibility studies had been entrusted to the RITES International. Apart from the works pertaining to widening the Eluru Road in phases and construction of flyovers at various places in the city, it was also proposed to take up beautification of places like Kondapally and Gannavaram airport costing Rs. 35 lakhs and Rs. 10 lakhs respectively.
