Kesava Dev award for Sreeraman

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JUNE 23 . The writer, C.V. Sreeraman, has been selected for this year's P. Kesava Dev award instituted by Sahrudayavedi. The award comprises a statuette and a citation. The jury chairman, George Onakkoor, and the convener, M.R. Thamban, said Mr. Sreeraman was chosen for the award for his overall contribution to Malayalam literature. The award will be presented at a function at the Theerthapada Mandapam on July 1.

Computer course

The Computer Society of India will organise a one- month part-time course on Software Project Management for IT professionals and students. The evening course will be held on the chapter premises on Ambujavilasam Road. Candidates are directed to contact the CSI office for details.

Inter-school contest

The Trivandrum Ladies Circle 22 will set up a computer lab at the Government UP school, Kumarapuram. The lab will be formally inaugurated by the City Police Commissioner, Balram Kumar Upadhyay, on June 24. School uniforms will be distributed to 100 children at the event. The circle is organising an inter- school recitation, debate and painting contest at the Jawahar Balabhavan on June 27. Students are directed to report at the venue at 8.30 a.m., with an identification letter from the Principal.

Farewell

The Air Commanding Officer of the Kerala and Lakshadweep Air NCC, Wing Commander Thomas Kurien, who is taking over as the Joint Director in the New Delhi DG NCC Headquarters was given a farewell by the NCC cadets at a function held at the St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School today. Wing Commander Thomas Kurien had been in charge of the Kerala and Lakshadweep Air NCC contingent for the past three years.
