MUMBAI, JUNE 24. The Gujarat police have taken three persons from Mumbra to Ahmedabad for questioning and recording statements in the Ishrat case. Ishrat Jahan Shamim Raza, along with three others, was shot dead on June 15 by the Gujarat police when the four were allegedly on their way to kill the Chief Minister, Narendra Modi. Thane police sources confirmed that three persons from Mumbra were taken to Ahmedabad today for recording their statements before a court. They are not under arrest, clarified a senior police officer. One of the persons is Choudhary, who lives in Ishrat's building. The others are Pervez, a builder, and Rashid. Pervez and Rashid are said to be friends of Javed who was killed along with Ishrat. SP leader meets Shamima Mohammed Azam Khan, all-India general secretary, Samajwadi Party, and Uttar Pradesh Minister for Urban Development, said at a press conference that he met Ishrat's mother Shamima today and she told him that Ishrat was given a job in an advertising agency run by Rashid Ansari (who has been taken to Gujarat for questioning) in Mumbra. She told Mr. Khan that Ishrat had left the house twice earlier but came back after a few days. Shamima and the rest of the family were afraid to talk and gave this information quite hesitantly. "Can't a poor woman send her daughter to work in this country," he asked. He said he met the family of Pervez and talked to them but Rashid's family refused to meet him. Shamima did not specify where Ishrat went and did not know if she had travelled out of the State, Mr. Khan said adding that he was conducting his own investigation.
