Four farmers commit suicide

KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 24. P. Sailu (55) from Godishala village of Saidapur mandal committed suicide by consuming pesticide on Thursday. Reports said the farmer had owned five acres of land, and had sunk borewells and dug agricultural wells. The recent hailstorms had caused him loss of crop, and he had incurred huge debts. He is survived by wife and a daughter.

NIZAMABAD: Medari Chinna Gangaram (40) of Kothapalli village in Velpur mandal, about 45 kms from here, was found dead near his plot at Mamidipalli crossroads under Armoor police station today. A bottle of beer and a tin of pesticide were found near the body. Reports said the deceased owned had O.25 guntas of land in Kothapalli, and had borrowed Rs. 25,000 from the Sri Rama Grameena Bank to buy a Bajra crusher machine. He had reportedly repaid Rs. 4,000.

ANANTAPUR: Krishnamurthy (50) of B. Pappur village in Narpala mandal, who had consumed poison on June 15, died in the General Hospital here today. He had owned three acres land and had been under a debt of 1.7 lakhs.

In another incident, Ranganath (35) of P. Byadigera in Agali mandal committed suicide by consuming pesticide. The farmer had four acres of land, and was reportedly under debt.
