Government urged to help expedite Yeleru probe

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, JUNE 24. Welcoming the reappointment of the Commission of Inquiry into the Yeleru land scam, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), here on Thursday urged the Government to provide the required infrastructure for speedy completion of the inquiry.

Questioning the motive of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders in opposing the revival, the Congress MLA, P. Janardhan Reddy, said the TDP's demand for re-commissioning of the probe by a Supreme Court judge made little sense as the same party spurned the directive of the SC when it was in power.

Thanking the Congress leaders, workers and the Left party activists who fought against the scrapping of the probe by the previous Government, he said some TDP leaders were now trying to spread canards in this regard.

Mr. Janardhan Reddy alleged the involvement of the former Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, adding that the TDP leaders were now jittery about, hence opposing the reappointment of Justice Somasekhara as the inquiry commissioner.
