Thanjavur
By Our Staff Reporter
THANJAVUR, JUNE 24. Damage caused to a drinking water pipeline resulted in heavy leakage on Palli Agraharam near here today. The pipeline got damaged when heaps of soil and stone, from the construction of a bridge across the Jambu Cauvery, fell on it. Engineers of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Sewerage Board and the Thanjavur Municipality are trying to plug the leakage, but in vain. Spare parts are being brought from Tiruchi. The pipeline brings drinking water from Kollidam, from Thirumanur. However, K. Sultan, municipal chairman said supply to the town might not be affected as alternate arrangements have been made. The leakage would be plugged soon, he added.
