Three die in road accidents

BANGALORE, JUNE 24. Three persons were killed in as many road accidents in the city on Wednesday. E.V. Shantharam (70) of Katriguppe was killed on the spot after a van hit the motorcycle on which he was riding pillion. The rider, Padmanabha Rao (48), was injured, the police said.

The accident took place at about 3.45 p.m. at Chamundi Layout bus stand in the Hebbal Police Station limits. The Hebbal Police seized the van and arrested the driver.

Bhaskaran (14) of Maruthinagar was killed on the spot when the driver of a van in which he was travelling rammed an iron pillar, off the railway under-pass, on Yelahanka Main Road at about midnight. The driver and another passenger of the van, who were injured, were admitted to hospital. The Hebbal Police have registered a case.

Raghavendra (18) was seriously injured when a private bus from Tamil Nadu hit his moped on Hosur Road at about 9 p.m. Raghavendra died at a hospital. The Madivala Police seized the bus and arrested the driver.
