CHENNAI, JUNE 25. Two strikes from Syed Sabir Pasha helped Indian Bank swamp AG's Office 3-0 in an insipid CFA Super League encounter on Friday at the Nehru stadium. The spectators watching the match might be forgiven for believing they were actually witnessing a violent wrestling contest out on the field. Indian Bank might have dominated possession for nearly the entire duration of the match, but the truth is it rarely threatened to score; and the three goals were, in fact, isolated examples of what the team's playmakers Pasha and Ravi Babu are capable of. A deceptively straightforward 35-yard strike off Babu's left foot found the top right corner of AG's net, giving Indian Bank the lead after 13 minutes. Then Pasha made it 2-0 in the 54th minute, scoring off a Babu's cross. Indian Bank seemed to relax a little at this stage and missed at least half a dozen chances until the second minute of injury-time, when Pasha chipped a pass from Amul Raj over the charging goalkeeper, V. Ramu. For AG's, Muthu impressed with his creative solo darts along the left flank, but lacked support from other members of his team. The finishes were not up to the mark, thus ensuring that neither side could put up an impressive display.
