Dayanidhi Maran to visit Islamabad

NEW DELHI,
JUNE 25.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran, will be the first Minister from the Manmohan Singh Government to visit Islamabad.
He will attend the second meeting of Communications Ministers from SAARC countries beginning on June 29. The meeting will discuss modernising communications links between member countries, installing an across-the-region broadband network to promote Internet use and evolving a common position at an upcoming international IT meet late next year, said a press release.
The Communications Ministers will discuss telecom and IT issues concerning the SAARC region including bridging the digital divide in South Asian countries and suggesting short and long-term action plans in this regard.
