Renuka Choudary stresses all-round development of tourism

KHAMMAM, JUNE 26. The world tourism conference scheduled to be held at Hyderabad from July 6 to 8 is expected to give a big boost to tourism development, according to the Union Minister of State for Tourism, Renuka Chowdhury. Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, she said over 300 delegates from all over the world would take part in the conference.

She said a new tourism development programme called `Incredible India' would be launched. The safety aspect was being raised in some quarters and those visiting India were as safe as those visiting in any other part of the world including the USA, she maintained.

She stated that there was considerable increase in the rush of tourists in Sates like Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan. She stated that tourism was a potential source of employment.

The government would spend over Rs. 500 crores for the development of tourism in the country this year. Stating that only certain pockets got projected as tourist destinations, she said hereafter every State would get due importance.

The temple town of Bhadrachalam and other tourist locations in Khammam district would be developed into major tourist attractions by providing required infrastructure.
