MANGALORE, JUNE 26. Health authorities of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) have urged people not to consume "unhygienically" prepared products from roadside eateries. The warning comes in wake of outbreak of cholera in neighbouring Udupi district. Authorities also warned owners of such eateries conducting business illegally to shut down immediately or face action. In a press release her eon Saturday, A. Manjaiah Shetty, Health Officer of the Corporation, directed people not to consume fruits and vegetables which were in bad condition. Hotel owners have been directed to pay special attention to hygiene, both inside and outside their premises. Waste should be disposed in a proper manner in bins. All health related directives of the corporation applicable to hotels and restaurants should be followed scrupulously. Boiled water should be provided to customers coming to such eateries. All drinking water storage points should be emptied, cleaned and refilled to avoid spread of the disease. Putrid meat should be disposed by burying the same, the release stated.
