BANGALORE, JUNE 27. The Chief Election Commissioner, T.S. Krishnamurthy, today expressed optimism that the Centre might pass a law banning what he termed ``misleading'' advertisements by political parties and candidates before the coming Assembly elections in two States, including Maharashtra. Delivering his valedictory address at a two-day national conference on electoral reforms here, he said the Election Commission had told the Government and the Union Law Department to address the issue of banning advertisements in the light of the problems it encountered in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
