DINDIGUL, JUNE 27. Chennai retained the A.G. Subburaman Memorial Trophy defeating Vellore 1-0 in the final of the 14th Tamilnadu State Youth football championship conducted by Dindigul District Football Association here on Sunday. Ramu scored the match-winner in the 62nd minute. Left wing back Lakshmanan sent a through pass to Ramu from the middle and Ramu found the net with a good grounder. Earlier, Dindigul beat Kanyakumari 6-0 to take the third place. Ruban Santhosh (3), Karunakaran (2) and Rajesh Raja scored. Mr. M. Kandasamy, Superintendent of Police, presided and Mr. S. Murugaia, District Collector, gave away the prizes. Mr. G. Sundararajan, president, DDFA, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Shanmugam, secretary, proposed a vote of thanks. Special prizes were awarded to the following: S. Vishwasa Charles Britto (Dindigul), G. Prabhakaran (Vellore), P. Ruben Santosh (Dindigul), W. Victor (Chennai).
