CHITRADURGA, JUNE 27. M.G. Sudhindra, the district and session Judge, on Saturday said that basic legal knowledge helps ensure "peace, order and calm" in the society. He said that for the progress of the country, it was important for people to remember their duties towards the nation. He was speaking at the inauguration of the free legal aid camp at Hireguntanur village in Chitradurga taluk. "Justice is some times delayed but is never denied. "The delay is because of the lack of infrastructure and judges. "A simple way of settling disputes is through arbitration," he said. G.B. Chebbi, the Superintendent of Police, stressed on the need to educate people about the law and create legal awareness. "The problems that arise in rural areas is usually because of the lack of legal knowledge," he said. The Assistant Commissioner, S.B. Bommanahalli, said that people should realise the importance of legal camps and utilise such opportunities. The free legal aid camp was jointly organised by the District Legal Aid Authority, the District Bar Association, and the local village panchayath. Premavathi Managooli, the Principal Civil Judge; M.M. Tataswamy, the president of the District Advocates' Association, participated in the programme. K. Rajanna, an advocate, H. Hanumanthappa, a zilla panchayat member; and Kanthamma, the president of the gram panchayath, were present.
