THRISSUR, JUNE 27. A panel discussion on the "Problems of computer education in schools" organised here by the district PTA Committee in association with Sarvodaya Trust cautioned the Government against the introduction of computer education in schools without adequate preparations. Inaugurating the discussion on "Problems of computer education in schools" the president of the Gandhi Peace Foundation, I.M. Velayudhan Master, said: "Before the inclusion of paper of computer education in high schools curricula it is the duty of the Government and the Department of Education to make sure that all the aided and Government schools have the required facilities such as computers and trained personnel." The representatives of the teachers' union emphasised the need for distributing computers and other project equipments to all Government and Aided schools by each district panchayath. They also called for giving proper training to the teachers on the free software-based computer education, and for making the computer education free. The meeting was presided by district PTA president, Johnson Kanjirathingal. The Sarvodaya Trust chairman, A Peethambaran, and the State Secretary of PSTA, Ouseph Kodannur, attended the meeting.
